You’ve been dreaming about this day your whole life. Now comes the actual planning and stress. Preparations usually take months . Even though you’ve planned this wedding in your head since you were young, it’s still hard deciding on the right color scheme, dress, table cloth designs, etc. . One thing that is still popular and convenient is booking your wedding and reception at a hotel . It is much easier and more convenient to have the wedding at a hotel than at a home.
Having your wedding and reception makes it much easier on you and your guests . The main benefit is that you will not have to worry about and wait for people to arrive from another venue . Hosting the ceremony and the reception at a single venue also means that people will not get lost on their way to the reception.
The option exists to have the wedding indoors or outdoors when it is hosted at a hotel . Alternatively, you can have the ceremony in the wedding room before moving to the garden for photos to be taken. Afterwards, the wedding party can move on to the dining room and to the dance floor easily.
Your out of town firends and family can come into town sooner, book rooms and spend some more time with you . By doing this, they can wake up relaxed on the special day, not having to worry about rushing over to the venue . Attendants can meet other friends and family right in their room to help them get ready. In this way there is no rushing around on the day which can be quite stressful. Weddings can be stressful enough and it is wise to remove all the stress that you can .
The same comfort applies to friends. Should they stay late and enjoy a few too many drinks, they do not have to worry about getting home. They can simply stay over at the location too. Many weddings are really festive occasions and in this way guests are able to party the night away without having to hold back.
Hotel weddings can be great. So think about some local hotels you can book to make it easier on your friends and family.

Your partner has finally asked you that all important question and everyone is excited . And then you suddenly realize you have to plan a whole wedding . All the preparation and the details suddenly become so overwhelming because you don’t just want a very nice wedding , you want your dream wedding. How are you going to do it?
Well let me calm you down a little and give you some tips to follow:
- One of the first things you need to think of is choosing a date . Factor in everything from your family and friends availability, public holidays, venue possibilities, weather and what you expect your dream day to be .
- Get yourself a wedding planner. Typically it’s your best friend . You want someone that you feel comfortable with and trust. Keep in mind that it doesn’t matter how much experience the wedding planner has, it’s their passion for your wedding and their attention to detail that counts most. After all, you tell them what to do anyway, so that you can relax and enjoy your engagement.
- Book the right venue for your wedding . Keep in mind that good venues can be all booked up a year ahead , so ensure that you do this in good time . There are also numerous factors that you must keep in mind for choosing a venue, but I’ll address this in another article.
- Find a Wedding Dress or dress maker. You want to get your wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses finalised long before your wedding date, because you’ll need to plan for fittings and accessories. The same goes for the groom and the groomsmen’s suits and accessories.
- Think about and decide on your wedding theme . What is the theme of your wedding and the colour scheme?
- Book your DJ, Photographer, Videographer, Caterer, Wedding and Florist. Make sure that each of them knows their tasks, venue and times of the wedding.
- You will need some wedding invitations and stationeries . Then send them out about 2 months before your wedding day. Don’t forget that when you set your date, you need to send everyone a save-the-date email or letter.
- Confirm your Guest List. Prepare the wedding favors, confirm the numbers with your caterer and venue.
- Before the wedding day meet with all your wedding suppliers and give them a schedule and checklist to ensure that everyone is in sync . Throughout the entire process, your wedding planner will ensure that all this is done. Your wedding planner should double as your budget planner to make sure everyone gets paid and you stay within your set budget .
Then finally all the preparations and planning come together as a whole on the wedding day. Leave it all in the hands of your wedding planner. Get yourself and your bridesmaids ready and prepare for your flawless dream wedding.

Tips on Planning a Cheap Wedding
July 11, 2010 by wedding planning
Some might find this hard to believe, but planning a cheap wedding is quite easy to do. It’s also great fun and can be really unique and creative too! So if you’re planning a cheap wedding in the future, here are some great tips and ideas for you…
1. Cheap Wedding Locations. Planning a cheap wedding location is not impossible. In fact, you can have wedding ceremonies in a variety of places that are completely free. The local park is a great example. There’s usually no cost to go to a public park, and planning a cheap wedding ceremony there doesn’t usually require any permits or other fees either. Double check with your local city authorities just to be sure first of course.
The Beach is another free place to have a wedding ceremony, as is many churches for that matter. Other ideas include: Having your ceremony at a family member’s home, or having the ceremony in your own back yard. If the wedding couple loves nature, it may be free or very inexpensive to have the wedding ceremony at a local zoo, nature reserve, or flower conservatory too.
2. Cheap Wedding Receptions. Planning a low cost wedding reception is not too difficult either. One way to keep the reception super cheap is to make it a pot luck meal. You can have the guests each bring their own dish, and this could be requested in place of having them buy you wedding presents if you’d like.
If you’d rather not ask guests to bring food for your wedding reception, then ask a few family members to get together and cook the food as a wedding gift to you.
Planning a cheap wedding reception should also involve choosing cheap or free locations for the reception too. Try to make the wedding reception co-incide with the ceremony in some way. If you plan to have your wedding ceremony in the gazebo at the park for instance, then plan for the reception to be a barbecue or picnic style event in that same park.
Another easy and cheap example of course, is if you have the wedding ceremony in your home. Then you can plan to have the reception in your home as well, or out in the backyard if the weather is nice. If you’re planning a cheap wedding on the beach, an excellent reception idea is to have a beach party afterwards… bonfire and all.
3. Cheap Wedding Decorations. When planning a cheap wedding you’ll of course need to keep the cost of decorations down as much as possible. You don’t have to go without them completely though, you just need to improvise.
Instead of buying expensive flowers for instance, try decorating with balloons and streamers instead. Go to a local craft or fabric store and buy a few spools of pretty ribbon, then tie the balloons together with strips of the ribbon done up in a bow. Also tie the ribbons into bows themselves, then tape the ribbon bows around for decorations by themselves.
Another idea for creating inexpensive table decorations is to simply collect some pretty rocks. Wash them clean, then arrange them creatively on tables or other surfaces. You could even paint the rocks to match your desired wedding color theme.
Here’s a great idea if you’re planning a low cost wedding that will have an outdoor, picnic or barbecue style reception: buy pretty paper plates and napkins instead of using expensive china dishes.
As you can see with just these few ideas, planning a cheap wedding can actually be a lot of fun!

Planning a Small Wedding Reception
By Janet Verra
Want to have a rather cozy and small wedding reception? If you want your wedding day to be more intimate, a small wedding reception really works well. This is also a perfect option for those who have a quite tight budget. When planning, it will be a big help to get yourself creative and innovative in making possible arrangements within your budget limit.
Planning a small wedding reception involves several tasks such as creating a guest list, choosing a venue, decorating the venue, finding a DJ, selecting songs, hiring a caterer, choosing a wedding cake, and finding the right favors. For a quite limited budget of yours, splurging money is not an option but being wise in making decisions would really make a good sense in making a wedding reception on a budget looks lavish.
Wondering how to organize a small wedding reception? Here are some ideas that can tick you along as you move ahead.
Planning a Small Wedding Reception: Finding the reception venue…
One of the most important aspects would be to decide the perfect venue. A practical option to help you save money is to plan your wedding during an off season. Find and book the venue in an off season, but make sure that it can accommodate your guests well. A clubhouse, garden, or a residential home can make an ideal place to hold a small wedding reception.
Planning a Small Wedding Reception: Decorating the venue…
Once you’ve chosen a venue, the next thing you need to do is to choose a theme which will be your guide in decorating the venue. You will also decide on the colors that best fit the theme of your wedding. From table and chair arrangements to wall and ceiling details need to be looked into. Flower arrangements are also important as they can easily embellish the whole place. Fresh flowers can be a bit expensive, so what you will do is to purchase lots of silk flowers instead of fresh ones. Insert the silks into the fresh flowers to make arrangements without spending too much. Depending on your budget, you may also add other decorative accessories such as streamers, banners, balloons, candles, table sprinkles, etc.
Planning a Small Wedding Reception: Planning for delightful menu…
The menu will depend on the time of the day that the wedding reception will be held. No worries because there are some suggestions that can help you save a sum on the food and drinks for example, you can make your own menu at home, instead of hiring a caterer. This may involve some of your family member and friends to help you cook and prepare the dishes. Your homemade menu will be served in a buffet-type so you won’t be needing waiters to serve your guests.
Planning a Small Wedding Reception: Music and DJ…
It is important to entertain the guests and keep the party alive, that is why you need to have music and DJ for that. For a small wedding reception, you don’t have to hire a professional DJ or band. Instead, you can have a friend who knows a bit on entertaining people or you can hire a school band that will likely cost cheaper or even for free!
Other important details you have to keep in mind for your small wedding reception are your wedding favors, table linens and chair covers, wedding centerpieces, wedding flutes and serve, cake toppers, and wedding napkins.

Save on Your Wedding Cake
June 23, 2010 by wedding planning
One of the biggest focal points of a wedding reception is the beautiful wedding cake. That towering, flowering, blinding beautiful wedding cake with the two people standing on top, that the bride and groom cut and then feed to one another.
Although a lot of brides and grooms go with the traditional pound cake taste, it doesn’t have to be that way.
Flavor -
If you don’t go with the traditional pound cake taste for all of your layers, keep in mind that not everyone
is going to like lemon or raspberry, or any other exotic flavors.
One popular alternative is chocolate chip cake. Another idea is to go with alternating chocolate and vanilla.
The top of your cake is traditionally saved and eaten on your first wedding anniversary. So choose the flavor that both of you will enjoy and make that your wedding topper.
Although a lot of cakes are purchased in a traditional bakery, there are a lot of supermarkets that make delicious cakes that aren’t as expensive.
If you are working on a budget, shop around for prices on wedding cakes and be sure to sample them. You may
be surprised at what supermarkets can do. I know personally that the lady who did our wedding cake now works at a major national grocery store bakery as a head baker.
If you have someone that has taken a cake decorating class and makes great cakes, you may find that they will do it as a wedding present and it will save you some money.
A wedding cake doesn’t have to be expensive to be delicious, and you can find plenty of money saving ideas when looking for your wedding cake.

Stags And Hens And The Things To Look Out For
June 16, 2010 by wedding planning

Couples who are about to get married do tend to follow the traditions of the concept more or less to the letter. Very often, this means that on the eve of the wedding the happy couple will, separately, go for a night out with their friends, generally those friends of the same sex. For the groom-to-be this is a “stag” night, while for his prospective spouse it is called a “hen” night. As different creatures as stags and wildfowl may be, the nights that bear their names are broadly similar. Alcohol is taken, frequently a stripper is invited, and a hangover on the most important day of your life is almost inevitable.
The stag or hen night is trumpeted as the individual’s “last night of freedom”. This in itself is a description which is losing some of its relevance, as usually the couple involved will have been living together for some time. Just what level of freedom they have prior to and including this “last night” is an issue for their own consideration, but it is wise not to test the elasticity of the description too far. If you spent your last night as a technically single guy or girl with a stripper, the excuse of tradition would be unlikely to spare you a very angry revelation later on.
That said, there is nothing wrong with a stag or hen night per se. Things do become more serious after you have been married, and those who have not had a final night of independent fun prior to this often regret it. Just make sure you are in a fit state to show up at the ceremony the following day.
The Financial Pitfalls Of Wedding Planning
June 16, 2010 by wedding planning

A common complaint from couples planning a wedding is how much everything costs. It is entirely understandable that this should be the case – many of the things that one buys for a wedding are available at a much lower price until such time as you include the word “wedding”, at which point the price climbs steeply. Judging that a couple getting married will spend more because it is intended to be their only wedding in a lifetime, people very cynically expect them to pay higher, and in many cases absurd, prices.
One example of this would surely be the cake. Although intricate, a wedding cake does not really contain any ingredients which justify the price many bakers place on it. In fact, if the cake was sculpted out of roast pheasant, iced with caviar and topped with platinum likenesses of the bride and groom, it would still struggle to justify the price that some people end up paying. A wedding dress or suit, too, will magically triple in price the moment the possibility that it will be worn to a ceremony arises.
This is why it is important to be hard-nosed in negotiations in the run-up to your wedding. You should not be expected to spend so much, given that you are making plans for a life together – this is money which would be better spent on household necessities. Of course a bit of pageantry is fine – but don’t let yourself be mugged just because you are planning a special day.
